We like to talk about who has helped us before.
And when that person is someone big, we say it with pride.
We mention the person who opened a door for us, gave us an opportunity, came through for us, or helped us when we really needed it. And there is nothing wrong with being grateful.
But sometimes, When the person who helped us is wealthy, influential, or powerful, mentioning their name can feel like a flex. The name of the person who helped us can become part of the story we are proud to tell.
Then i came across Psalm 121:2
“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”.
And something about that wording caught my attention.
The Psalmist did not just tell us who his help came from.
He told us who His helper is.
He could have simply said, “My help comes from the Lord.”
But he adds:
“ The Maker of heaven and earth”.
And I thought perhaps that was a big and real flex.
It is almost as though he is saying: " You want to know who helped me? Let me tell you who He is.”
He is the One who made heaven.
He is the One who made earth.
He is the One who made everything.
Think about it.
We can be impressed by someone’s wealth, influence, connections, or position. We can proudly say, “ I know someone who can help me”.
But the Psalmist is pointing to the One who made the very things that make people powerful in the first place.
My help comes from the maker of it all.
It is not just knowing who helped you, but knowing who your helper is.
In times of need, remember this, "my help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth." And trusting in Him is not just having a little bit of faith. It is placing your confidence in the One who made it all.
And honestly?
What a big flex.
