Writer’s Note:
Every journey has a starting point, and this was mine.
I was looking through some old notes and found this—the very first message I ever wrote. Reading it now, I can still feel the heartbeat of that young girl who was just trying to find her way. I wanted to share it with you exactly as it was, because it was the moment I first learned what it means to truly trust the Word.
There are days when silence feels like the only response to pain. I remember one of those mornings vividly. I woke up and made a conscious decision: no prayer, no Bible, no 'religious' routine. I was just too unhappy, and the future felt scary and uncertain. Honestly, I felt 'disappointed' in God. I felt like He wasn't really there the way He claims to be, so I decided to stop showing up too.
I sat there for a long time, but then I had a change of heart. I decided to go talk to my ‘Best Friend’ and Father up there—maybe He could explain things to me. So I started my usual conversation, reluctantly, and, being human, I couldn't leave without complaining and asking my numerous questions.
Eventually, I found myself doing something I had never done before; that was the moment I realized just how urgently and desperately I needed the few verses I had learned.
After a good, "happy cry," a thought came so clearly:
"How do you feel now? Do you know you don’t actually have a problem?"
It was a loving wake-up call. He was showing me that while I kept coming back to Him frustrated and afraid, He had already given me everything I needed to be happy: His Word.
“How do you feel now? Do you know you don’t actually have a problem?
You keep coming back to me crying, frustrated, and afraid.
Yet I have already given you what it takes to be happy—
My WORD.
Everything is in it, but because you don’t truly know it, you remain unhappy.”
I realize now that we often don’t have a "problem"—we just put the manual aside. We go searching for "strange things" other forms of directions when the answer is sitting right in front of us. The Word is for everyone, and God speaks to you just as He speaks to anyone else. My ‘Best Friend’ is simple, welcoming, and even has a great sense of humor.
Sometimes we point fingers at the devil for things he doesn’t even control. But if you know the Word, the enemy can’t scare you. It’s like trying to kill a mosquito with a gun—there is really no need.
The Bible isn’t just a timeless book; it’s the manual for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When you truly know the Word, the presence of the enemy becomes nothing. Too often, we’re “killing mosquitoes with a gun,” fighting battles the Word has already won for us.
Until we truly understand the gospel, the Bible is just a book about God. But when we see it as a book for our lives, everything changes.
Many people treat it like any other classic—they feel they should read it, but they don’t know why. The Word may be hard to measure, but how can we ignore the very manual for our life here on earth? (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
II Timothy 3:16-17
Today, I feel a sense of peace. This doesn’t mean the storms have vanished—I might still shake, cry, and even face setbacks, but I’m okay, and I remain joyful because I have in this life: God and His Word.
