As I reflect on Deuteronomy 7:1, I can’t help but connect it to our own journeys.
God promised the Israelites a beautiful land, the Promised Land, a land overflowing with blessings. But guess what: it was occupied by seven nations mightier than them: the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Hivites. (Scripture even emphasizes that the Israelites were the least of all the people).
“The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;” Deuteronomy 7:7 NKJV
“The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;” Deuteronomy 7:7 NKJV
This is such a powerful reminder.
When God promises us our personal promised land (it can be anything), it’s easy to feel anxious or impatient, wanting to see how it will all look.
Imagine this: if God had shown the Israelites that land ahead of time, fear might have set in and caused them to reject it.
“Seven nations mightier than us already occupying a promised land? No, thank you.”
Or they could have settled for a comfortable but lesser land instead.
This reminds us to trust God and lean into His faithfulness, even when the path ahead feels daunting. He often calls us to step into the unknown and stay open to His guidance, believing that He can do the impossible.
Your promised land may come with challenges, but God has the strength to help us overcome every obstacle.
So let’s embrace what God has promised, trusting His plan even when we can’t see the full picture.
Have you ever felt anxious stepping into something God promised you? It’s okay to take those steps with faith. We’re not alone in this journey.
Have a blessed day.
